“Most importantly, I truly love what I do and always strive to create a real bond with my students and their families. There is something about each and every one of my students that I find interesting. My role is to help them find a direction, area/program of study, aptitude, passion so that they can ultimately find the school or career that is best suited to them. My goal is for them to feel empowered and successful.”

Joan is a graduate of Middlebury College, holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and is a certified Academic Life Coach,  and Professional member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), member of the Higher Educational Consultants Association and Certified Etiquette Consultant. Her passion for education and dedication to helping students started when she spent two college summers working in the Academic Program Office at Choate, her alma mater. After graduating from Middlebury, she moved to New York City to satisfy her intellectual curiosity and to pursue a career as a reporter for FORTUNE Magazine. Joan spent 15 years traveling around the country, launching new business initiatives and working for major media companies such as Time Warner and America Online. Throughout this time in her career, she kept in touch with close friends and classmates in the field of education, thus creating an extensive network at secondary schools and colleges. Many years later, and after starting a family of her own, she has realized her dream of helping students explore their interests, gain confidence, develop life skills and reach their fullest potential.

Joan is involved at Middlebury through her work as a Class Agent and Co-Chair of the Reunion gift committee and was an Alumni Admission Interviewer for 14 years. She currently resides in Manchester-by- the-Sea, Massachusetts with her husband, and has three children who are of college age and beyond.
